Customer Snapshot: History
Customer Snapshot: Business Model
Kiessner’s innovative idea to put programmable packaging machines on each customer’s shipping line is embodied in the Packsize operation. The shipper enters the dimensions of the product(s) being shipped, and the machine provides a custom-fitted corrugated cardboard box for each shipment.
Less material waste and less wasted space in-transit translates to exponential savings potential-for customers, consumers and the environment. In fact, packaging that's this efficient means an average of 66% more items can be shipped on one truck.
Think of it as protection without peanuts, or boxes with the air on the outside instead of the inside. Specifically, about 40% less air.
With a unique 100% risk-free business model, Packsize customers only pay for materials they use—while leasing the machine for free.
Customer Snapshot: Success Strategy
Our goal is to reduce the world’s shipping volume by 30% to 40%.
One measure of success is meeting Packsize’s self-imposed challenge: a 40% annual rate of growth. The problems associated with that kind of growth are also challenging, to say the least.
Previously using multiple ERP systems, Packsize lacked visibility across multiple countries and entities. They needed a very robust system that would enable data mining to understand the business at a deeper level in order to strategize properly and achieve their ambitious goals.

“SAP Business All-in-One was the only solution that we felt would enable us to avoid any future transition as we grow the company. It lets us focus on the company’s mission.”
Packsize management decided that the next ERP system they implemented would be their last. They selected an SAP Business All-in-One solution.
Enter SAP: The SAP Experience
Packsize called on Bramasol Inc to perform the implementation. Their partnership was enormously helpful in maximizing utilization of SAP solutions to Packsize’s complex needs—and instrumental in establishing effective change management and best-in-class industry procedures.
Change is good...especially with this kind of help.
With our SAP Business All-in-One solution we’re able to implement the practices we’re using in the United States into Germany, Sweden, and everywhere else.
SAP has now provided us with the platform we need to run our complex global business.
Better Business: Benefits
The benefits an SAP Business All-in-One solution delivers to Packsize span all the company’s operations, but they can be summed up in one word: visibility.
SAP gives Packsize visibility into the global deployment of their machines in order to efficiently run their corrugated supply chain. “I’d go one step further and say this widespread deployment probably wouldn’t even be possible for Packsize without a global ERP system”, says CEO Hanko Kiessner.

Better Business: Lessons Learned
Better Business: Run Simple
With almost too many benefits to list, there’s excitement in the air for Packsize employees. For instance, now their engineers and sales teams have mobile access to customer data.
Packsize intends to implement a more robust reporting package with additional functionality, by planning to link the travel management function for their engineers to the CRM functionality and to fixed assets, because all those parts of the business are so interconnected.
Packsize is looking forward to seeing the biggest benefit of implementing an SAP Business All-in-One solution – when all those functions are working together as a whole.
